Pay-per-call – Can Google make it work?

Published on 24 February 2007 by Oliver Yeates in Google, Miva, Pay-per-call

With this week’s announcement that Miva is to decline new business for their Pay-per-call service leaves the search world without a Pay-per-call service to speak of!

For those of you who haven’t heard of Pay-per-call – “it is a similar concept as pay-per-click (PPC) which is Google’s preferred income method. In pay-per-call however the advertiser receives a phone call usually initiated through a web form.” (Wikipedia)

Google is currently “reviewing” their offering with a view to re-launch their service later in the year.

Here at Grasscircle we all think the industry needs another shot at Pay-per-call – we think the advertising model can work for many industries where initial conversation is vital (Mortgage applications etc) and should be an option for all advertisers to use.

If Google take the model seriously then I think the market is left with a gaping hole which they are more than capable of filling.

Come on Google are we nearly there yet?!
