Two Thirds of Marketing Experts admit they don't understand Social Media

Published on 18 May 2009 by Sam Gadsby in Social Network Marketing

65.6% of Marketing professionals admitted to not understanding how to use Social Media for marketing purposes. This was announced despite the fact that the marketing experts believe that Social Media sites such as Facebook and Twitter are more than just a fad and are set to last.

The Report from BrandRepublic also showed that many marketing professionals have had their access to Social Networking sites banned by IT Departments, stopping the monitoring of brand performance within Social Media.

Hello !! Should any one be surprised ? Well I’m NOT! Of course most Marketing Professionals don’t understand Social Media. How could they understand a tool that they don’t use or has just started using. AND; let me mention that most marketing pros only join to make money or client relationship purposes which is the biggest mistake!! There is a unique and deep psychology about Social Networking it is mostly about culture and barely about technology. Until Marketers starts giving out kudos on myspace blogs or start sending out hugs on facebook apps no one will hear their twitting :] bedazler.
