Twitter, the micro-blogging and social media phenomenom has layed out plans to start generating a revenue stream by opening the door to advertisers, giving them access to its 45m+ monthly visitors.
Biz Stone, co-founder of Twiiter revealed on the company’s official blog that it would be revising its terms of service to “leave the door open for advertising”. Many people are suggesting that this is a huge hint towards them utilising an ad-based model. Having said this, lips are sealed, with no further information given in regards to what the advertising opportunities will be.
With almost all Social Networking sites integrating advertising to fund the upkeep of their Social Network, Twitter are well overdue a revenue stream.
Twitter are hoping that huge global brands will be more than willing to pay for such a service, particularly if they can gain more information about their followers.
