Candy’s first week at Clicky
New year, new beginning! I joined Clicky’s design team early January and working here has been an amazing start to my 2018.
I’ve always wanted to get into web and digital design, but have never had the opportunity in my previous roles, so when I was offered a job at Clicky I was over the moon!
My first week at Clicky
My first week was really varied and incredibly enjoyable. I got to start work on day one, and it was great to be able to hit the ground running. I’ve been able to start learning everything there is to know about website and digital design straight away.
Learning on the job is easy thanks to the tutorials my team members have directed me towards, and getting to practice using new software while designing work for both internal and external purposes has been really beneficial. It’s also great to see what the other members of the web team are working on. I’m a real design nerd so I love being surrounded by so many creative people.
On my second day, I was introduced to the rest of the Clicky team through a ‘speed dating’ process. It’s exactly what it sounds like, but just without the romance (ha!). Myself and the other new starters were supposed to spend about ten minutes with each other member of the team to get to know them, tell them about ourselves, and break the ice.
We ended up running over time since everyone was so easy to talk to, and I really loved the whole process; it was a unique way of getting to know everybody and has made it a lot easier to approach people if I need to.
Clicky’s chosen charity
After speed dating, I was invited on a tour of Claire House children’s hospice, Clicky’s chosen charity, along with a few of my new colleagues. It was an eye-opening experience that has really inspired me to start fundraising for the charity, which is great since Clicky is going to be doing just that for the whole of 2018!
The rest of my first week at Clicky was spent practising website design, completing an online Google course in the principles of website design, and working on a variety of design projects. I’ve even started working on projects for some external clients which is exciting! I also visited Clicky’s Nottingham office, so the team could get together to work on some exciting projects with the Nottingham team.
Everyday is an adventure at Clicky and I’m already working on some really exciting projects with the rest of the design and web team. It was so good to meet everyone and get stuck into work in my first week, everyone makes a huge effort to help the new joiners settle in.
