Charting searches for Social Networks using Google Trends

[trends h=”350″ w=”600″ q=”twitter, facebook, bebo, myspace, linkedin” geo=”UK”]The chart above shows how searches for the 5 major social networks have changed since 2004. Facebook, as you would expect, has lead the way and you can easily see how MySpace and Bebo fell out of favour as it began to dominate.
You will also notice how Facebook searches are beginning to decline in the past 12 months but this could be attributed to both a saturation of users and also the change in user habits (with users often now using apps to access their social network – not starting with a Google search.)
Google Trends is free to use and you can embed the graphs in your website easily (as we have above) – http://www.google.com/trends/
