Clicky Island Discs / Beth
Inspired by the legendary Desert Island Discs of BBC radio, we’ve asked the Clicky team; before they’re castaway on a remote desert island in the middle of nowhere with only themselves as company, what 5 songs, book and luxury item would they take with them?
1. Bom Bom Bom by Sam and the Womp
If I had to describe what goes on in my mind everyday using just one song – this would have to be the one. No, I don’t get it either!
2. Justice by We Are Your Friends
My best friend had this on vinyl (I know, we were hipsters way before hipster was even a thing) and we would sit in our back garden at uni and listen to this on her red record player over and over again.
3. Pedestrian at Best by Courtney Barnett
One of the coolest women ever! I met her a few months ago and she hugged me, and she was really cool and chilled, and I just kept laughing in her face by accident and talking about ukuleles. I shouldn’t meet famous people! I once chased David Walliams down a street with a pencil.
4. Dancing Lasha Tumbai by Verka Serduchka
This singer reminds me of one of my friends and she wasn’t very pleased when I told her (we are still friends though, don’t worry!). I love Eurovision so much – especially the weird ones.
5. Love on Top by Beyonce
I love this song – it has an 80’s soul funk sound, and you can’t go wrong with that. Did you know Beyonce hits something like 5 octaves in this song!
Mercedes Ice by Philip Ridley
Mercedes Ice is a kids book with pictures, but it’s just incredible. It’s about a family that live in a horrible tower block full of rats, and is illustrated by Chris Riddell who is one of my most favourite illustrators. I wish I could take all of Philip Ridley’s books because every single character is larger than life.
Uno card game
I’m obsessed with it. But then again, no one will be around to play it with me.
