Clicky Island Discs / Ewan
Inspired by the legendary Desert Island Discs of BBC radio, we’ve asked the Clicky team; before they’re castaway on a remote desert island in the middle of nowhere with only themselves as company, what 5 songs, book and luxury item would they take with them?
Last month we brought Clicky Island Discs back from its slumber, and brought you Nathan & David’s discs. This week it’s the turn of our PPC Assistant Ewan:
Picking five songs out of my 17 days 4 hours and 33 seconds worth of music on my iPod was an absolute challenge to say the least, but I persevered to give you a flavour!
1. Hummingbird by BB King
I had to throw some blues in the mix and where better to start, than with the legend himself… The King.
2. Californication by Red Hot Chilli Peppers
What’s interesting about this song is that it was deemed not good enough to be released for decades. It remained words on paper in Anthony Kiedis’ (frontman) poem book until legendary producer Rick Rubin saw potential and turned it into one of their biggest hits. One of my all time favourites.
3. Times Like These by Foo Fighters
Seeing Dave Grohl live was one of the most insane gig moments I’ve ever experienced! The guy has an unbelievable energy on stage, and this song takes me back there. Long live the Foos!
4. Above The Clouds Of Pompeii by Bear’s Den
A great band to chill out with on a Sunday afternoon.
5. Tribute by Tenacious D
This song takes me back to my younger teenage years…and to some questionable open mic night attempts…enough said.
The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss
This could be one of the most inspiring books I’ve read. I can open this book up on any page and learn something new from it. Tim Ferriss offers a manifesto to life that challenges some of the most entrenched assumptions about modern society out there.
I can guarantee you will find something in this book that will help you in life in some shape or form. Bold claim. But I’m willing to put money on it!
Scar Tissue by Anthony Kiedis is another favourite!
I think a surfboard would be a worthy contender here. Whilst keeping me entertained for hours, it would double up as a nifty little shelter whilst tripling up as a raft to go fishing on or even escape the island if the thought ever crossed my mind!
