Clicky’s Hoodwinked Trail Adventure

Do you remember Liverpool’s Bananalamas, Birmingham’s Bears and Chester’s Rhinos? This summer, the creative juices are flowing in Nottingham with the arrival of Hoodwinked; a unique, eye-catching and creative art trail in celebration of local legend, Robin Hood.

If you been in and around the city centre, you may have noticed some beautiful, bespoke robin sculptures dotted around the city – there’s 33 in total! Keen to discover more, our Clicky Nottingham team have been on the hunt to locate as many as possible.

The Hoodwinked project has been devised by Nottingham City Council, in partnership with creative event producers Wild in Art and the Nottinghamshire Hospice charity. The aim of the project is to attract as many people as possible to the city over the summer months, igniting Nottingham’s historical culture by keeping the tale of Robin Hood alive on the streets.

Indeed, each individual Robin takes its own twist on the mysterious guise of Robin Hood. Produced by artists both locally to Nottingham and from around the country, every design tells a mini story, threading together the rich and varied layers that make up our fantastic city – from the annual spectacle of Goose Fair, to its world-renowned lacemaking heritage.

Whilst we’ve loved seeing the Robins turn heads in Nottingham, what’s really special about this fantastic project is the sense of community it’s brought about. With participation and sponsorship from the likes of Nottingham Playhouse, Browne Jacobson, Nottingham Castle and Boots, it’s great to see contributions from local organisations – all in aid of raising awareness and donations for the Nottinghamshire Hospice.

If you’re keen to get involved, download the Hoodwinked 2018 app to view your trail progress, collect exciting rewards along the way, upload photos and more. The statues will be around until the 30th September – so keep your eyes peeled and let us know your favourites!

Alternatively, fancy your very own Robin? All 33 sculptures will be auctioned towards the end of the Hoodwinked project, with all funds raised going to Nottinghamshire Hospice.

Visit our Clicky Media Instagram page to discover the Robins we love the most, and don’t forget to join in the Hoodwinked conversation by sharing you photos using #hoodwinked2018.
