Facebook are introducing an 'empathy' button
I’m sure you’ve all read by now (if not, where have you been) that Facebook are planning to introduce a ‘Dislike’ button to their popular social networking platform!
For many years Facebook users have asked for a dislike button, and now Facebook’s founder Mark Zuckerberg has confirmed that they are very close to shipping a test of the new button. The button isn’t exactly what you think it is though, Zuckerberg said in the Q+A session he held at Facebook’s HQ that the button would be there for people to express empathy, and he doesn’t want to encourage users to be mean to one another. For example, it’s not always appropriate to ‘like’ sad or upsetting posts as users may feel insensitive.
What do you make of this new button? Is it a good idea, or are you quite happy ‘liking’ everything?
