Facebook has launched Instant articles
Facebook recently announced that: ‘Mobile web articles can take an average of eight seconds to load, by far one of the slowest parts of the Facebook app’.
Instant Articles provide a faster and overall better reading experience for their users, loading up to 10x faster than standard mobile web articles and offer one of the best reading experiences across social media today.
How do the articles work?
Instead of using a web browser to load the articles, Facebook use the same technology that loads their photos and videos in the app, which allows them to load much faster. Instant Articles allows publishers to present the same high quality and interactive experience readers expect, whilst also allowing them to serve selected ads in their articles and keep the revenue.
Who’s involved so far?
The New York Times, National Geographic, BuzzFeed and BBC News, to name a few, are all launch partners of Facebook’s latest initiative, but we’re positive more and more publishers will be wanting in on the action.
