New Google Beta | Extended Text Ads

As a Google partner, we are fortunate enough to gain access to some of Google’s beta’s, and this time they are trying out new ad formats for text ads! This particular beta is closed, and only being tested by a few chosen agencies – luckily enough we happen to be one of them!
The new ‘Expanded Text Ads’ beta is a pretty big deal, designed to maximise advertisers presence within search results. With nearly 50% greater ad copy, headlines will become more prominent and there will be additional room to feature products and services. This new ad format allows for two 30 character headlines and an 80 character description line, as well as two 15 character path fields.

Our PPC team are very excited to have access to this new ad format, and it’s great that as a digital agency we were asked to take part in one of Google’s bigger beta’s.

Google have said that with this new format advertisers could see an increase of 20% in CTR when compared with existing text ad

You may be wondering why we think this is such a big deal. I mean it’s only a few extra characters right? Wrong. This new ad format allows us as advertisers to create longer creative messaging, and its this creative and engaging messaging that will ultimately make somebody click on a paid ad. Google have said that with this new format advertisers could see an increase of 20% in Click Through Rates when compared with existing text ads, and that the new formats are designed for a mobile first world.
We will be sure to keep you updated as soon as we know any more #watchthisspace
