Google to Release Mobile Search Index

Google announced that they’re going to create a separate mobile index within the next few months, and this will become the ‘primary’ index their search engine uses when responding to queries made on mobile devices.
Although a separate desktop index will still exist and be updated, it will not be as current as the mobile index, and we’re unsure at the moment just how frequently it will be updated.
It makes sense that Google would create a mobile index, as desktop usage for Google searches is now less commonplace with the increase in smartphone technology and availability of mobile devices, however desktop does still generate searches. We therefore need to ask the question how will this new mobile index work? Unfortunately Google have not provided us with any answers yet, so we’re left guessing at the moment whether the new index will purely contain mobile only/mobile friendly content.
We’ll keep you updated as we know more.
