Since its inception, WordPress has since gone through 98 version releases. Here are a few more statistics:

  • At this moment in time there are 66,768,613 WordPress sites in the world
  • WordPress Version 3.5 has been downloaded 22,231,397 22,231,397 times.
  • WordPress is used by 57.5% of all the websites whose CMS we know. This is 18.1% of all websites.
  • As of today, WordPress.org hads1,763 available themes and 72,216,848 downloaded themes.
  • As of today, WordPress.org has 25,365 plugins and 467,020,663 plugin downloads
  • WordPress.com users produce about 47.8 million new posts and 62.4 million new comments each month.
