Pokemon Go users exceed Twitter’s 65 million American users

In the 7 days since its launch in the US there have been more users signing up for an account than there are US Twitter users.
Yep thats right Pokemon Go users have already exceeded Twitter’s 65 million American users.
Pokémon Go is a spin-off of the long-running Pokémon series, in which players capture and battle the titular creatures in their quest to become the greatest Pokémon trainer in the world. Unlike in earlier video-games, players move around the real world looking for Pokémon to capture. Confused? See the video below (which has incidently had 33 million views already!) …

The share price of Nintendo, which owns a third of the Pokémon Company and an undisclosed stake in the game’s developers Niantic, has rocketed by 50%.
Google searches for the game have also gone through the roof in the UK – beating search volume for things like “Youtube”, “Netflix”, “games” and “iplayer” – see data below from Google Trends:

The UK finally go its hands on the game 30 minutes ago and it is predicted the uptake will be as quick if not quicker.
