World Cup searches start to soar

We are precisely 30 days until the first match kicks-off and now the premiership is out of the way, the searches on Google are set to soar. Take a look at this graph (below) from Google Trends showing how search volume has shot up in the past month.
With tickets/flights for the most dedicated of fans mostly all booked, the next 30 days is all about the armchair supporter getting themselves ready…
So what are some of the big searches?
TVs – Our obsession with the latest and greatest TV technology shows no sign of slowing down – and what better reason to buy a new TV than a World Cup?
Smart TV’s are the buzzword this summer with users looking for internet connected TV’s and of course they are thiner, bigger and even sharper than ever before.
Big search terms (expected monthly searches*): “smart tv” (100,500+ searches), “TV” (150,000+ searches)
BBQs – With late kick-offs (most games kick off at 11:00pm) the Brazil World Cup lends itself to hosting a BBQ – we just need some good weather too.
Food, Beer & BBQ Retailers are expecting a high volume sales.
Big search terms: “BBQ” (60,000+ searches), “barbecue” (45,000+ searches), “Gas BBQ” (35,000+ searches)
Replica Shirts – Not as popular as they were, replica kits are still big sellers in the lead-up to kick-off.
Big search terms: “england shirt” (15,000+ searches), “new england kit” (25,000+ searches)
