Role Overview:
As an SEO Account Manager, your primary responsibility will be managing client relationships, ensuring their SEO strategies are aligned with their business goals and executed effectively. You will serve as the main point of contact for clients, overseeing all aspects of their SEO campaigns, from strategy development with our expert team to reporting and performance analysis. This role is heavily client-focused, requiring excellent communication, outstanding relationship and workflow management, with leadership skills to ensure client satisfaction and retention.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Relationship Management:
Serve as the day-to-day contact for assigned clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded.
Build and nurture long-term client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor on all things SEO and associated services.
Regularly communicate progress, performance metrics, and insights to clients, ensuring transparency and alignment with their business goals.
Conduct regular client meetings, both virtual and in-person, to discuss performance, strategy updates, and future opportunities.
Campaign Strategy & Oversight:
Collaborate with clients to understand their business objectives and develop SEO strategies with our team.
Translate complex SEO concepts into actionable recommendations for clients.
Oversee the implementation of SEO workflows, coordinating with internal teams to ensure all activities are delivered on time and to a high standard.
Proactively identify opportunities for growth and optimisation, presenting these to clients as part of their evolving SEO strategy.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
Monitor and track the performance of client SEO campaigns, using tools like Google Analytics, SEMrush, and Ahrefs.
Provide clear, concise performance reports to clients on a regular basis, highlighting key metrics such as organic traffic, keyword rankings, and conversion rates.
Explain data and insights in a client-friendly manner, ensuring they understand the impact of SEO on their overall business performance.
Work with clients to set realistic KPIs and continuously track progress against these targets.
Strategy & Team Coordination:
Coordinate with internal teams (SEO - content, technical, and wider digital specialists across paid search, development, design, research and insights and paid social) to ensure client deliverables are met.
Ensure that all aspects of the client's SEO strategy—from on-page optimisations to link-building efforts—are carried out efficiently and effectively.
Act as a project/account manager for client SEO initiatives, ensuring timelines, budgets, and client expectations are adhered to.
Client Retention & Growth:
Identify opportunities to grow SEO services or related digital marketing solutions that will benefit the client.
Work with the sales and account teams to onboard new clients and ensure a smooth transition into ongoing SEO management.
Ensure high levels of client satisfaction to support long-term retention and potential referrals.
Key Skills & Requirements:
Proven experience as an SEO Account Manager, Account Executive, or similar role, ideally within a digital agency environment.
Strong client-facing skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust quickly.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to explain complex SEO concepts in simple, client-friendly terms.
Demonstrated experience in managing multiple client accounts and balancing competing priorities.
Strong organisational and project management abilities, with attention to detail.
Solid understanding of SEO principles and best practices, including technical SEO, content strategy, and link-building.
Experience using SEO tools such as Google Analytics, SEMrush, Ahrefs, and others.
Ideally experience in wider digital channels, particularly paid search, CRO and website development, working within or alongside a cross-functional team of content creators, developers, and digital marketers.
A proactive, client-focused mindset with the ability to anticipate and solve problems before they arise.
Ability to manage client expectations and deliver results within agreed timelines and budgets.
