Toad Hall Cottages is one of the South West's most trusted holiday cottage agencies, offering handpicked properties across Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, and Dorset.

Toad Hall Cottages has been helping holidaymakers find the perfect UK getaway for over 40 years, with a carefully curated portfolio of coastal retreats, countryside escapes, and waterside hideaways. Clicky has partnered with Toad Hall since 2019, initially through a Clicky Playbook® discovery project that evolved into a long-term relationship spanning website development, paid media, and ongoing digital strategy.

The Challenge

When Clicky first partnered with Toad Hall, the business needed a clearer picture of how its digital channels were performing and where the biggest opportunities lay. A Clicky Playbook® discovery project identified friction points in the user journey and booking process that were limiting conversion, alongside untapped potential in paid media.

The travel sector then faced unprecedented disruption through COVID-19, requiring a rapid pivot in strategy. As the staycation market surged, Toad Hall needed a reactive, collaborative approach to capture fast-changing demand while keeping acquisition costs efficient.

The Solution

Following the initial discovery project, we undertook a full rebuild of the user journey and booking process on the Toad Hall website, removing friction points and creating a smoother path from search to confirmed booking.

On the paid media side, we built a multi-channel strategy across Google Ads, Meta Ads, and YouTube Ads. Google Ads captured high-intent search demand from users actively looking for holiday cottages in the South West. Meta Ads drove awareness and inspiration, showcasing properties to audiences in the consideration phase. YouTube Ads extended reach with video content that brought the Toad Hall experience to life.

When COVID-19 hit, we worked closely with the Toad Hall team to implement a responsive paid search strategy, scaling activity up and down in line with rapidly shifting government guidance and booking windows. As the staycation boom took hold, this reactive approach meant Toad Hall was well-positioned to capture the surge in domestic travel demand.

Over subsequent years, we continued to refine the channel mix and optimise campaign performance, contributing to strong year-on-year revenue growth through 2024.
