Alex, our former SEO Manager, has been promoted to Head of Search – which is thoroughly deserved! We caught up with him to find out more.

Tell us a little more about your promotion? 

I’ve just been promoted to Head of Search, which means that I’ll be overseeing our paid and organic search offering. I’ll be working closely with both teams to make sure we continue to provide a best in class search service.

What excites you about your new role? 

Having been solely focused on organic search and growing the service for the last few years, I’m really excited to work with our incredibly talented paid media team to further innovate and expand our offering. I’m also looking forward to working with the wider Heads of team to grow the agency as a whole in the next 6-12 months (and beyond!)

Having been at Clicky for nearly 3 years, what would your advice be to someone starting out in their career? 

Obviously choosing a career you’re passionate about is crucial. Self-development is also key – if you have the passion for your career, you should be taking advantage of any opportunities you have to expand your knowledge. Read articles, listen to podcasts, network with people in the industry, take courses (free and paid) – there are so many opportunities to learn.

Testing what you’ve learned is just as important as the learning itself, though. You might find that some things you read aren’t accurate, or that some optimisation techniques only work in certain situations. You should always pick up the knowledge, and then test it out in different scenarios. Spin up your own website or ads account, learn how everything works, implement the things that you’ve learned and reflect on the results.
