Clicky Media’s 12th Birthday!

Today Clicky turns 12! In line with our 12th Birthday, we are taking a look back to see what some of our staff were up to 12 years ago.

Back in 2007, with 4 years experience of working in the world of Digital Marketing, our CEO decided to go it alone. With boundless passion and a mere £500 budget, Clicky Media Ltd is born. 40+ staff later, we have no intention of slowing down, servicing a wider range of clients across more channels than ever before in our history.

12 years ago I was working on pre-opening marketing collateral for the new Liverpool Arena, furiously designing what’s on leaflets and adding events to their website. But on this day, I was giving Alexei Sayle and Phil Redmond (Brookside and Hollyoaks creator) a tour around the arena building site while they filmed a documentary. Crazy times…

12 years ago, as Oli was setting up Clicky, I was just finishing Year 7 at school in Liverpool. I had never even heard of graphic design, it wasn’t something that was even on my radar. I thought I wanted to be an author when I grew up until I realised that when writing my own stories I preferred drawing the pictures to writing the stories themselves. Thus, a career in art and design beckoned!

In 2007 I was 16/17 years old and nearing the peak of my grebo teenage years. I was working weekends in a book store and spending the majority of my earnings on trips to gigs in Brighton & London, seeing bands such as Metallica, Foo Fighters, Dark Tranquillity, Lamb of God, Motorhead and more! Development wise I was just dipping into code, playing around with building out custom Myspace themes for myself and friends, along with playing around designing posters for local shows in Corel Paint Shop Pro.

12 years ago I was in my second year at the University of Manchester studying (its a long one…) Accounting with Business Information Systems. As you can see from the photo it was a very socially active period, and supposedly the peak of my fancy dress days!

At the time I was looking to go down the path of getting into Accountancy, which as my 3 year course continued I realised wasn’t to be. However, my interest in using numbers has carried me well into working in marketing, especially in my current role in the Strategy and Insights team, where I look at data every day. I may have thought I’d be using numbers to look into profit and loss and balance sheets, I’m now looking at data to help make informed decisions, to drive our client’s strategies.

Andy Adams, PPC Specialist.

I actually started working in marketing (SEO @ Moneysupermarket) in August 2007. Back when it was all about link buying, mass article writing and directory submissions. All of which are big SEO no-no’s now.

I haven’t a clue if there are any photos of me at 12/12 years ago – I’ve probably destroyed them all out of shame!

To celebrate our 12 years of digital growth, we are looking back to see how tech, brands and our staff have changed and developed over the years, watch this space.
