Google has made it even easier to utilise Data Studio to report upon marketing KPIs and targets, with the addition of gauge charts.  Gauge charts provide a quick and easy way to see progress against a specific target – whatever the metric.

In this simple example, a gauge chart is used to show a target of 45 brochure downloads:

The functionality available in Data Studio allows us to create and style:

This allows us to customise the gauge charts for more specific targets, for example:

In this example, we’ve included a comparison vs. the previous month, shown here as “November Sales Achieved,” and a “target line” for the “December Sales Target.” On top of that, we have quadrants of £25,000 – highlighted in the various different shades of red. Our aim is always to be in the lightest shade of red possible!

To add a gauge chart to your existing report, all you have to do is click “add a chart” in your menu bar:

And then scroll right to the bottom, where you’ll find your gauge chart options:

As an agency, gauge charts allow us to put a number of key client targets front and centre of our reporting. As Google Data Studio is a live feed of data, clients can check in at any point and measure our progress against their targets. Data Studio enables us to build completely bespoke, live reporting dashboards for all of our clients at Clicky, helping us to be clear and transparent about our performance.
