TrueView for shopping is a new YouTube ad offering that allows retailers to better promote their products to YouTube users. With the introduction of TrueView for shopping, YouTube viewers are now able to click through to a brand’s products whilst watching videos, which lets consumers purchase items that are right in front of them with ease. The ad is an interactive overlay which contains the product details, images and links to the retailer’s website.
The cards can use the same technology as dynamic remarketing, or advertisers can set filters to pull relevant products from their Merchant Feed. This means product cards are dynamically generated for that video ad’s particular impression, and works seamlessly to incorporate an e-commerce element for consumers.
The main advantage of these new Shoppable ads is that advertisers are not limited to their own videos. By using the click-to-buy ad format on TrueView they can feed the contents of their Google Merchant Account into a YouTube partners’ video, which then increases the potential reach for the products and inevitably increases sales potential. Another great thing about this new ad format is that much like Google Shopping Ads, you only pay if a user clicks on your ad.
YouTube is the #1 social platform for video product reviews, with 64% of shoppers going to YouTube for advice or inspiration before making a purchasing decision. Therefore, promoting sales transactions where consumers are researching and making decisions is a bit of a no-brainer really!
