Quality Cottages are a Welsh holiday cottage rental company based in Solva in South Wales. The company is a family business which started in 1961. They specialise in providing ‘Quality Cottage Holiday Cottage Holidays throughout Wales’.  

The team at Quality Cottages personally inspect and select every property that they have in their portfolio. This includes all factors that could affect their client’s holiday from locations to furniture. They truly put their customers and property owners first, providing a service of the highest standard.

The Brief & Goals

The client approached Clicky back in summer 2018 to support them with their new website. The client already had a brilliant team of developers in-house and so required a digital agency who could partner with them to support on the creative UI design. They picked us due to our extensive knowledge in the travel sector and allowed us to guide them on user experience and improvements for conversion.

As well as the website, Quality Cottages were looking to refresh their branding to modernise and update their brand image to reflect the ‘quality’ of the Quality Cottages properties. The new branding had to reflect that is aligned with the modern customer expectations, and positions the brand accurately and competes more effectively in the market.

One of the main goals for the website was to ensure that it conveyed the brand story – the company is family owned with over 61 years experience. This needed to be communicated to customers, improving trust signals across the site.  Some other important goals were to:

  • Improve bookings across all devices

  • Improve sign ups and information available for property owners

  • Modernise the user interface design

  • Consider the future marketing of the website

  • Implement the new branding

  • Showcase the premium nature of the properties



The project started with a project immersion session. This involved travelling down to South Wales to spend a full day with the Quality Cottages team. This allowed us to really delve into the project brief, uncover any pain points that the client was experiencing with their current branding and website and understand the client’s expectations and goals for the project. By gaining this deeper understanding of the business it allows the Clicky team to plan the most effective approach and strategy for the project.

From here, we then entered the research phase of the project, resulting in a creative moodboard of colours, textures and references for the proposed direction of the brand, which was then presented back to the client via a phone call.

Once the direction was agreed, we then took all of our learnings and applied them into the design process to come up with a new logo and branding style that met the brief and exceeded the client’s expectations.

Web Design

Following the branding project, we applied the new brand and style to their new website. Having had a lot of experience in the travel and tourism sector, we were able to apply a strategic approach to create a conversion focused website design, focusing specifically on the booking process across both desktop and mobile devices.

We worked closely with their internal team of developers to provide the creative designs for their new website which was then brought to life by their talented team. As the client were based in Solva, we utilised digital communications such as Invision and Basecamp to present the designs and communicate regularly throughout the project.
